Scope of Service Experience
Mr. Zugsmith founded Zugsmith & Associates in 1979 as a full service commercial real estate brokerage in the San Fernando Valley. After the 1981 purchase of Paul Ellis & Company, a major Valley competitor, Zugsmith & Associates opened a second office in West Los Angeles. In 1990 Zugsmith & Associates merged with Thind Commercial Brokerage Company, a major West Los Angeles competitor, to form Zugsmith-Thind, Inc. In 1995 Zugsmith–Thind changed its name to NAI Capital, Inc. and subsequently opened additional offices in Los Angeles County and expanded into Ventura County, Orange County, Kern County and the Inland Empire (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties), purchased the brokerage assets of the Matlow-Kennedy Corporation which consisted of two additional offices in Los Angeles County and joined NAI Global as its exclusive member for Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and southern Kern Counties. Mr. Zugsmith served as Chairman of NAI Global Leadership Board for 2003. NAI Capital, Inc. has sixteen full service commercial real estate brokerage offices throughout six Southern California counties which are staffed by more than 220 brokerage professionals specializing in the leasing and sale of office, industrial and retail properties and the sale of apartment buildings and land. NAI Capital includes divisions specializing in corporate and advisory services including strategic planning, government services, the Pacific Rim and Latino markets as well as a Green Desk consulting on environmental technology.
Background & Experience
An active participant in local civic organizations and charities, Mr. Zugsmith was appointed by the late Los Angeles City Council President, John Ferraro, to serve on the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for the Ventura/Cahuenga Specific Plan, a member of the Real Estate and Construction Cabinet of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation and a Guardian of the Jewish Home for the Aging, holds honorable status as Knight in the Royal Order of Francis I, and currently serves as President of the Tiger Club of Occidental College in Eagle Rock, California. Mr. Zugsmith is married to Rachel, has two children Michele and Mike as well as two grandchildren, Madison and Zachary. He lives in Studio City.
Michael A. Zugsmith graduated from Los Angeles Valley College with an A.A. degree in Journalism in 1973, U.C.L.A. with a B.A. degree in Communication Studies in 1976 and did graduate studies in Law at Southwestern University.
