Background & Experience
John Algermissen is a New Mexico Native. He grew up on a horse ranch in the south valley of Albuquerque and has helped with the family business throughout high school and college. Since then he has worked a variety of jobs while attending the University of New Mexico where he graduated with a double major in Finance and Management Information Systems.
At the University of New Mexico John was involved with various groups that provided real world business experience. One of these groups was the Daniels Fund Business Ethics team. As a member of the case competition team, students came up with case summaries and presented their solutions for businesses dealing with ethical issues. Along with the Daniels Fund, John was involved in International Business Students Global (IBSG) which provided consulting to local businesses looking to expand into the global market. John was an active member of the Anderson Ambassadors which is a group of business students that represent the university and promote its initiatives ranging from fundraising to endowment drives. These different groups gave John the foundation to be an organized, analytical, driven, and ethical business leader in the community.
Before Joining NAI Maestas and Ward, John was a program manager for Montech Inc. which is one of the fastest growing government contractors in the state of New Mexico. Montech Inc. provides technical and professional services to the federal government. John was responsible for the oversight, procurement, and development of many of the company’s contracts. This involved oversight of employees and projects to ensure they were in compliance with the federal government’s requirements and regulations.
John dipped his toes into the real estate world when he bought his first investment property as a sophomore in college, which he currently rents out and manages. When John is not in the office he is either mountain biking or helping out at the family ranch.
